In Loving Memory and In Celebration of the Life of
DAVID ROBERT BATES
13th January 1936 to 16th April 2010
Service held at Macclesfield Crematorium
 Friday 30th April 2010 at 11.20am
Led by Celebrant, Mrs Shirley George

I am not gone
Whilst you cry with me
I am not gone
Whilst you smile with me
I am not gone
Whilst you remember me

As We Look Back

As we look back over time
We find ourselves wondering ...
Did we remember to thank you enough
For all you have done for us?
For all the times you were by our sides
To help and support us
To celebrate our successes
To understand our problems
And accept our defeats?
Or for teaching us by your example,
The Value of Hard Work, Good Judgment, Kind Words,
Humour, Courage and Integrity?
We wonder if we thanked you
For the sacrifices you made.
To let us have the very best?
And for the simple things
Like the Laughter, the Smiles and the Good Times we shared?
If we have forgotten to show our
Gratitude enough for all the things you did,
We're thanking you now.
And we are hoping you knew all along,
How much you meant to us.

After Glow
I'd like the memory of me
to be a happy one.
I'd like to leave an after glow
of smiles when life is done.
I'd like to leave an echo
whispering softly down the ways,
Of happy times and laughing times
and bright and sunny days.
I'd like the tears of those who grieve,
to dry before the sun
of happy memories
that I leave when life is done

ORDER OF SERVICE
Entrance MusicAdagio for Strings, Op 11 – Samuel Barber
Welcoming words from Shirley George
Hymn:   Jerusalem
And did those feet in ancient time
Walk upon England's mountain green?
And was the holy Lamb of God
On England's pleasant pastures seen?
And did the countenance divine
Shine forth upon our clouded hills?
And was Jerusalem builded here
Among those dark satanic mills?

Bring me my bow of burning gold!
Bring me my arrows of desire!
Bring me my spear! O clouds, unfold!
Bring me my chariot of fire!
I will not cease from mental fight,
Nor shall my sword sleep in my hand,
Till we have built Jerusalem
In England's green and pleasant land.
